I have a 170 merc inboard that has been in storage for years. I changed the gas and filters, set the points. When the motor turns over it sounds like one cylinder fires and then starter kicks out. It keeps backfiring thru the carbs also. I tried moving the timing with with no luck. Any suggestions?
Can anyone tell me if my 170 merc I/O will fit in place of a 140 I/O. The motors are the same year and make. The 170 is out of a cruisers inc and I would like to install it in a Four Winns.
