The boat has a transom mounted hummingbird depth finder. The previous owner must have hooked the wire with something - it?s been hanging loose from the transducer since I bought it. I figured it should be easy enough to rewire - just pull it apart and find where the wire the wire was right...
Does anyone have any stories of VRO systems going out and screwing up the motor?
I've had a couple of people tell me I should just disconnect it, but I want to make sure
I'm not just buying into collective paranoia.

I just pulled the tape - haven't run it since. Any idea how to check to see if it's working properly? (I guess I'll find out if I empty the oil reservoir.) Thanks for the info on disabling the VRO - I was wondering if that would be all it took...
