I ran the engine to operating temp before attempting to remove the filter. I have removed many filters in the past and have not encountered one this stuck on. Would be nice if it was that simple.

I read that is an option. Your the first person to suggest this. Is this a thing? This is not my boat and I don't want to damage anything. Does that nipple that the filter threads onto back out of there?
Havent tried that one yet. Not sure what to grab. The outer shell, which there isn't very much left, will just rip. The rest of it is firmly attached to the block. I'll see if I can get ahold of something.

I usually use Dielectric grease as well. When I removed this wire from the coil, it was glued in there pretty good. I've never seen that before. figure that was still factory installation.

Thanks again for all your help. Got the ring in, and the exhaust bellows was a bit difficult. All done that part, now off to hook the cable up and adjust.
