My motor does not idle (if that is the correct term). I have a 1989 johnson 90hp vro outboard (j90tlaem) with an omc control. When i bought the boat, the fast idle lever didnt work. The boat still ran well. My brother in law played with the cable lines towards the end of the fishing season...
my 1990 johnson 90 hp vro v4 outboard motor has a bad piston. I was wondering if it is easy to repair or if i should just bring it to a shop. And if I should bring it in to the shop, what is the average damage i should be expecting coming out of my pocket. any advice will be greatly appreciated.

alright, the other day my nephew was playing with the shifter, (going in and out of gears from neutral to forward, forward to reverse, etc.) Now the shifter will not come out forward. it wont go into neutral, or reverse. Need help PLEASE!
