I was on my back to the dock last night my belt broke. I went slow temp gauge was bouncing but never appeared to overheat. Today pulled the boat leaking gear oil from the outdrive and it smell burnt. How much damage did I do?

My 1997 50 hp evinrude w/ tilt & trim started to put the trim down on its own, while it was Sitting on trailer. It seems to have a mind of its own! Any tips to diagnose would be great. Thanks Brian
