I put a new water pump kit in my 1988 45 HP Mariner and when I attempted to put the lower unit back on the motor it doesn't go all the way closed. The lower unit stops against something solid about 1 to 1 1/2 inches from the upper unit. It hits something solid and won't close.
Any suggestions...
