    help with wiring of throttle control for a mercury 881170a20

    i am having trouble with the wiring of the throttle control, i have a red and black wire that go to the guages but the wires are getting very hot and i can't seem to find out why. i didn't change anything around but the boat has been sitting for a while, anyone have access to the wiring...
