    Johnson GT Ocean Pro

Yes, Johnson is 2000 and Evinrude 1992, OMC went from 13.2 to 15.6 cu in 1993. Question concerns horse power which could be same 11.2 kW (15 hp) in both. I haven't compared the carburetors, if Johnson has a smaller throat carb (9.9 HP) or not. If it does, extra power comes from somewhere else...

    Johnson GT Ocean Pro

Nobody really knows if this GT is 10 or 15 as the decal says 11.2 kW (15 HP) I think this model was not sold in US (export family) and this is why people are confused. I care since I am about buying one.

    Johnson GT Ocean Pro

Yes, but it also says power 11.2 kW? I have heard that this GT means that 10 is derated to 15 as kWs say.

I came across with this motor, decal saying J10GTRSSS, power 11.2 kW, which is 15 HP. Does anybody know whether this motor is 10 or 15 HP? There should be some reason for model number J10, if it actually is 15 HP.

    Evinrude 55 1978 steering

Thanks for advice. This is what I have thought, but wondering if the splash wells can withstand the attachment of springs? Another question concerned the threads of the tilt tube, if the tilt tube outside thread match the cable nut (cover/sleeve) inside threads.

    Evinrude 55 1978 steering

I am not sure how to fix the steering of this Evinrude. It has been wire rope with pulleys without springs. In the figures it can be seen how the rope has been connected to the motor. The problem is that there is always too much slack which causes rope to jump out of the rear pulleys. I already...

    Evinrude 55 1978 gearcase

I would not call it mixture of grease and Permatex, but after carefully cleaning extra sealant from rubber lips, I oiled the lips to keep them flexible. I was just wondering whether Permatex hardens the rubber parts or not. I think Permatex is same as OMC, Evinrude / Johnson gasket sealing compound.

    Evinrude 55 1978 gearcase

I used Permatex Form-A-Gasket 3 for oil seals, it seemed to overflow a bit to innner side while pressing seals in. I tried to clean the extra sealant and "lubricate" it with water resistant grease. Does this sealant tend to harden the seals?

What about the use of any sealing compound in new oil seals and gaskets, I'm not in favor?

    Evinrude 55 1978 gearcase

I was wondering what is the purpose of those three slots in this drive shaft cover? Another question concerns the metal parts (e.g. springs) of the aftermarket oil seals which are not stainless. Is it always so in the aftermarket parts as the original ones are stainless.

    Evinrude 55 1978 gearcase

I am replacing the drive shaft oil seals and found these numbers in the old one. The last two numbers are strange and as far as I know they should be 66 (#321466)? Numbers are very small to read, but this is what I got. Any experience on this part number?

    Evinrude 55 1978 gearcase

I don't know whether it was easy or not with a small screwdriver, but it is done. Seal seems to be so good that I don't know if it needs to be changed at all. I was just thinking, as the gearcase is open now, if it were good to change the driveshaft seal as well, but maybe I don't do it.

... yes, the methods in the videos may easily cause damage and new problems :). O-ring change seemed to be everything else but simple
