    Re: 1987 Evinrude 28hp cooling issues. The hole you see there was orginally 1/3 its size but i filed away all the bad material. It was allowing exhaust to force out water from the pump and cause my issues. Filled it up with some marine JB Weld and runs great.

    I have a 1976 15hp evinrude that will not pump water. I pulled the water pump out and it looks good, i am going to replace it anyway since it is apart. I connected my garden hose to the copper tube that goes up into the engine block and you can hear it fill up with water but no water comes out...
