    Exactly what I just did. Used an 090M casting block out of an upside down 03 Blazer. It had 113 casting heads which were also correct. I reused the entire rotating assembly in order to maintain balance. A guy who sounded smart told me the Mercruiser cam is a little hotter than the Chevy cam...

    Don't let these post scare you. There's guys out there in 12' tinnys. Just don't challenge the weather. You'll be fine if you pick your spots with some intelligence and run when the weather looks to be changing.

    Probably a good system would be a blue tooth proximity type fob like vehicles use. Just keep it in your pocket or on a string around your neck.

    You don't "have to" change the prop but you should have enough HP to over rev the engine if you go WOT. You'll have HP that you can't use if you don't change to higher pitch. As long as the dish volume is correct and you don't get the compression ratio messed up the pistons will be fine...

    Crank mount pump conversion - any reason NOT to do it

    Interesting topic. I'm thinking of using the leg pump for the PS, fuel cooler and exhaust manifold supply and a crank driven pump for the HX supply. Is there a kit system supplier for the crank drive pump?

    Last time I checked the cost to overhaul the 305 is higher than the 350 and the 305 is heavier and makes less HP.

    Heat exchanger cleaning

    I also fabbed up end caps from 1/4" SS plate and made gaskets from 1/16" nitrile material. The AL caps seem too flimsy to me.
