I got my Evinrude 9.5 hp and the first pull start spring/setup in there was broken, I found another setup that I installed and it pulls out and rewinds BUT not all the way and it seemd if I were to cut and shorten the rope I wouldnt have enough pull to start the motor. I see the screw driver...

I have 1971 9.5hp evinrude and it runs for 30-40 seconds until all gas is gone from line..but if i prime ball couple times it stays running another 30sec. I made sure all connections are tight from tank to engine.iam using a new attwood 6gal plastic tank and double plugin fitting from walmart...
My 1971 evinrude twinsport wont hold a prime..I took hose off to carb and squeeze gas line ball hard stream gas comes out..engine was fully rebuilt 2 yrs ago but was used 1 time and sat till now..but engine is super clean
have a 1971 9.5 hp Evinrude runs great as long as u keep priming the ball on the hose connecting tank to engine. Otherwise drains all gas from hose. dosent hold a prime. And the pullstart pulls real hard and wont recoil like theres no spring to retract it. has the springs under it but just wont...
