    40hp merc voaltage regulator.

    The voltage regulator has an area about the diameter of a dime burnt through it. What would cause this? I was thinking mabe the stator went bad. Any help would be appreciated.

    Is there some way to install an alarm for an oil pump to indicate pump failure? I have a merc 40 hp pro series.

    Lower unit oil?

    Any recommendations on the type of lower unit oil to use for a 40 hp mercury pro series?

    1994 Mercury Tracker pro series 40 hp/water pump

    This is my first go around with changing the water pump. I was not sure what to expect when dropping the lower unit...there were a couple of hoses and what seemed like a shaft connected to the lower unit. I was apprehensive to continue on. What is the proper procedure for changing the water pump?
