I had my boat out on the lake and it fired up fine brought the idler down and she didn't stall. then when i go to accelerate I stall out. I found a sweet spot after many restarts where i could get it to run full open then shut it off and fish for awhile, then... same thing! It will start up...
Upon starting my merc 500 in the neutral position. the prop spins and i can hear grinding in the gearcase. I must push the throttle forward slightly to stop this. How and what do I do to fix this?
My motor would not catch even when I was sure fresh gas was running though the carb. So I new the timing was off. This happened to me before so I had a look at the flywheel key and shure enough! sheared!
