A little help would be greatly appreciated. I pulled the lower unit off this motor assuming the impeller was wrecked (no water out of the pee hole earlier in the day and I could blow air through the system). After seeing the impeller was is decent shape and reading more I am thinking the water...
I picked up a 1950 fleetwin and the recoil spring was bad. Got that put back together but I am trying to figure out the procedure for getting the rope back in and set to the right tension. Any help would be appreciated.

Just realized the motor I picked up had the lower portion of the skeg missing. EDIT I know I will need to find someone to do the job. Would love to hear from anyone with any history trying to do the same.

I pulled everything apart the other day, put it all back together and now after a day or so I get a very slow leak out of the threads going into the tank (attached to the fuel cutoff valve). It is pretty snug. Is there a seal/wasker/gasket by chance that I may have lost when I pulled the fuel...
