    Mercruiser 260 Timing ????

    1987 Mercruiser 260... the book says timing should be set at 8* BTC, but someone before me replaced the points with a pointless ignition. At 8* I get nothing in the water, and runs fine without a load. I advanced the distributer and set it by ear in the water, but I'm only getting 4100 RPMs...

    Am I getting top performance?

    I was just wondering if I am getting the most out my engine. I have an 87 Century 4000 21' Cuddy with a 260 Mercruiser. I have tuned and tuned and tuned the motor. The only thing I know now is that the secondary on the carb are not opening soon enough.....anyways... I weighed the boat with...
