    Surging/cutting out 5.0

Hopefully you guys can give me a clue where to start. I've got a '95 Regal with a mercruiser 5.0/alpha 1. Ran fine all morning. Cruising along about 3200 rpm and it started acting up. It loses power like it's going to die, then surges back. Starts fine and idles fine. Ran about 5 miles back to...

    Option #2 - '95 Regall 202 SE - Decent built boat?

Re: Option #2 - '95 Regall 202 SE - Decent built boat? Test drove the Regal last Wednesday. Ran out great. Smooth and quiet. Bought it tonight. A little cleaning and some wax because I'm picky and it'll be ready to go Memorial weekend. :)

    Option #2 - '95 Regall 202 SE - Decent built boat?

Okay, since the Crownline ended up as junk, off to my 2nd choice. It's a 1995 Regal 202 SE, 5.0 Mercruiser/Alpha 1, SS prop. Last spring oil change & engine tuneup. Last fall new bellows, lower shift cable & lower unit service. '07 Sea Ray tandem axle trailer w/surge brakes. Solid floor and...

2000 Crownline 192 BR worth it?

It's time for a little bit bigger/newer boat. We're looking at a 2000 Crownline 192 BR, and I'm interested in opinions on quality and reliability, and also anything in particular to look out for other than soft floor/transom/compression, etc. The one I'm looked at only has 77 hours on it. One...

Alpha 1 Gen1 lower shift cable

Rant first: If you don't know what you're doing, hire a pro. If you try it anyway, use the right tool. If you don't have one, buy, rent, or borrow one... So, I need to replace my lower shift cable. Unfortunately the previous owner stripped the corners off of the brass head where it screws...

    What control to get...

I give up, the PO of my boat put an outboard control in it that refuses to shift right no matter how much adjusting I do. Looks like its time to replace it and the cables. Any suggestions of a decent replacement that won't cost my 1st born child? The engine is a 3.0 w/Alpha 1.

    Gonna be a grandpa again!

My daughter went into labor a few hours ago, so here I sit at the hospital with my son-in-law surfing iboats to keep myself busy and out of the way. I'm not sure which is more nerve wracking. Watching my wife go through labor 26 years ago or my daughter. Sure am glad the hospital has free WiFi...

    3.0 tuneup kit

Does anyone have the part number for a tuneup kit (points, condenser, rotor & cap) for an 88 Mercruiser 3.0/Alpha 1. Number off of the block tag is B847667. Thanks

    Frustrated and venting...

Am I an optimist or an idiot? October 4, 2005, my grandson was murdered by his mother's (not our daughter) boyfriend. We have worked for over a year to get a bill written. The four points are 1. When there are multiple hotline calls, pay closer attention. 2. If the child is in immediate...

    Kerosene in the gas tank...

My dad managed to put kerosene in the gas tanks of his chipper & tiller. He drained all of it he could, but can't get it all drained. Can anyone tell me, if he tops them off with gas with a small amount of kerosene still there would that be dangerous or damage them? Quick replies would...

    SUV manual suggestions...

I have a 2001 Oldsmobile Bravada. Does anyone have a suggestion of a good service manual? The AWD has been screwy for a while. Now this weekend I put it in reverse, clunk, whrrrrr. GRRRR

    Where'd that come from...

I winterized my boat last night and ran across one puzzle. It's an '88 Merc 3.0/Alpha 1. New bellows, gimbal & seals the first of this year. When I pulled the lower unit there was maybe half a cup of water that ran out of the gimbal bellows. Bearing looks fine, grease in the bearing looks...

    Cool

Cool, there's actually a Fabuglas section now. Since I'm probably the only person who owns one I guess I can write to myself at least..... :)

    Redneck Yaht Club

We saw this last weekend and my wife had to have pics to prove it. lol Looks like it started life as a pontoon. Someone had built a makeshift cabin on the back complete with a trailer screen door on the back, playground slide on the front, the pickup tool box, and of course, the rebel flag...

Everyone has those momments... (as my wife sings "Memories...")

A couple of years ago after rebuilding our first boat off we go to the lake. Unfortunately it had a mid-80's Chrysler outboard. After running about 15 minutes the engine quit. I pulled the cover and started checking to see what went wrong. I hadn't been on a boat in a while and miscalculated...
