I'm looking at a Nissan 25hp 4 stroke with power trim. Problem is I live 800 miles away. Is there anything in particular to look out for on these motors?

I just bought a Zodiac Futura Mark2 HD. I found a 40 hp motor in both Mercury and Yamaha within a few hundred dollars of each other. Which would be a better motor?
I just bought a Futura Mark2 HD for diving and snorkeling. Mostly for use in San Carlos, Mexico. I'm looking at Mercurys or Yamahas. What size 4 stroke would you recommend? I know a 40 or 50 would be great but I'm on a budget. :(
