    Does Oil Pump Need to be Primed?

    I have a carburated 1998 Yamaha Saltwater Series outboard. I want to pump out the remaining oil out of the reservoir. Does the pump have to be primed? If so how do i do it? I have asked several mechanics and have gotten several differant answers.
