I have a 1985 Mercury 18XD that sat all winter without starting it. I drained the fuel filter bowl and cleaned with carb cleaner. Reassembled the fuel filter and hooked up the gas can with last years fuel (Sta Bil added). It started on the third pull. I took it to the river and it started...
My 9.8 shifter is binding. I dropped the lower unit....bind is in the upper end. Appears there is too much slop causing the two gears to bind. Anyone ever experience this? What was the fix?
When I move the shift lever all the way back to reverse I can spin the vertical shift shaft and gear...
