Just replaced my vro pump on my 2001 90 v4. I removed all the fairing to get better access....so far the motor runs great...I did put oil in the fuel tank also for insurance. Anyhow...I found some major corrosion on on part....can anyone tell me what this is and what I should do?
I have a 2000 90 hp johnson. I had to take lower unit out to replace water pump...also had
bad o ring on shift rod...so had to remove that...I tried counting turns...but that turned out
to be inaccurate...so I guessed when reassembling rod. Motor was fine initially....but a couple
of times, you...
I managed to get my lower unit off....best thing is to remove the left shroud and then the shift rod is very visible.
Anyhow...after much bruising and cursing...I got the new water pump kit installed...checked every thing....put the
motor back together...but now water is coming out between the...

Trying to put a new water pump into my johnson 90. Got all the lower unit bolts out, but can't
figure out how to release the shift lever.....something about a clip on the shift rod....can't find this
on the motor at all.
