Tools that younger people would not recognize.

That was my original plan before I found there was a couple of inches of gas still in the tank. Since I had earlier got some sawdust smoldering sawing through a thick section by the bow I decided to lift it high rather than wait until I got it out of my unisured building.

Yesterday's project. All done with cheap Craftsman (Lowes) battery tools. This is my old shop that is on property I own 25 miles from home and hasn't had power for years. Once I used a long extension and breaker bar to give the lag bolts on the motor mounts a quarter turn they came out with a...

Remember My Dad had a HP35 I think it was. I thought it was cool but wasn't ready to learn RPN. It wasn't too much later I was able to barter some HVAC work at the local calculator store for a TI sr-50. The older I get the more I miss those glowing red numerals. Still have my K&E log log...

Got both. Came to inheiret tools from both my grandfathers and my dad and that is why I have three brace and bit sets.

Tools that younger people would not recognize.

Twice in the last few weeks I have seen posts on different sites where someone found or inheirited a speed wrench and did not know what is was for. I wondered how dumb people could be that don't know what that simple item is as I probably have at least four in different sizes in my tool boxes...

My wife says I need this sign not only in my shop but on a T-shirt every time I go out shopping. I don't know if she means that as a compliment or not.

The guy that is always ahead of me at the ramp. Plus all his gear is still in the truck to be unloaded after he backs in.

Can anyone help me with removing a flywheel?

Don't know what type of puller you are using but if you can tighten it with an impact wrench it seems to almost always work for me. Also a good rap on the puller with a hammer. Each transmits the shock to the flywheel to break the bond. I know sometimes to remove a prop on a Navy ship after...

    Killing time

Raccoon ballistics test. Dog barking to alert me something is after her chickens. In my bare feet, flashlight in one hand, Beretta 96 40 cal in the other. Dog barking, chickens squawking and going all directions, raccoon running all over executing evasive maneuvers as I shoot for center of...

Anyone want to live at sea full time?

Been there. More rules than a HOA too.

As a retired Navy Chief Hull Technician who both worked with and supervised female ship fitters the only thing I noticed was grinding fiberglass without a respirator. Everything else seemed normal in my world.

    Motor support racks

Now you have advanced from statics to dynamics and the math has got harder by a function of 3. I remember years ago in the Navy being able to figure moments of inertia for flooded compartments out from the center line with y K&E slide rule. No way today, I have 3 pairs of reading glasses in...

Don't even have to figure metacentric heights, righting moments, etc.
