Does the alarm buzzer work? Do you get any beeps? Is the VRO still being used or do you use premix? Find the tan wire to the temperature alarm on the engine block. Jump it to ground with the key on and the buzzer should give a warning. If not you may be overheating and don't know it.
On a Johnson GT 150, the S.L.O.W. (Speed Limiting and Warning) mode activates and drops RPMs to roughly 2,500 by disabling half the cylinders when the engine senses an overheat condition. There are a few other signals from the VRO if I remember right which also could activate SLOW. I sold my...
Would you buy a 25 year old car with a possible rusted out frame because it might need some extensive engine work? I have known a few marine engine mechanics and turned a few av wrench a few times myself but never heard of standing on the prop to turn the engine over on an I/O. From the...
One of the first things a photographer learns is always check the background. After my mother in law passed we found this picture of her with one of her favorite Percheron draft horses. Yes there is a complete horse in the picture.

My Dad had a HP35 I think it was. I thought it was cool but wasn't ready to learn RPN. It wasn't too much later I was able to barter some HVAC work at the local calculator store for a TI sr-50. The older I get the more I miss those glowing red numerals. Still have my K&E log log...
Twice in the last few weeks I have seen posts on different sites where someone found or inheirited a speed wrench and did not know what is was for. I wondered how dumb people could be that don't know what that simple item is as I probably have at least four in different sizes in my tool boxes...
