I recently installed a remote control kit on my '86 8hp Evinrude. In order to route the fuel line away from the new throttle linkage I rotated the fuel pump cover 90 degrees clockwise. When I went to test run it for first time, it would not start. It sputtered and almost-ran for a few seconds...
I bought a side-mount single-engine remote control that I am hooking up to an '86 8hp Evinrude. No instructions were provided and I have one part I don't know what to do with. I think it is part# 0123140 Retainer Clip.
Its about 1" long - stainless steel spring metal - with two ears with holes...
