I was told that the high speed stater was bad on my 115 merc. so i pulled it and started thinking, is there a way to test the stater before buying another one?
I have a mercury 115 1989 4 cylinder. It idols fine but when you give it full throttle it looses about 1500 rpms. the motor seems to bog down. It will not run at full speed. Is it the stator?? How do you find out if the stator is bad?
