    back grind clutch dog on 74 15hp Johnson 15r74g

    I have the mentioned motor and under load it pops out of gear. My suspicion is the clutch dog, but Ive been told to check the detent and detent springs. YouTube searches have not been helpful thus far. Can anyone provide a link I can read or watch on how this is done?

    Squeezed bulb, pulled choke crunk in 2nd pull after firing on first pull. Pushed in choke pulled rope fired right up. Thus thing is making a liar out of me.

    Running in both. Oddly, pulled one plug off and it still ran but poorly. Put it back on and pulled 2nd it still ran bad but not as bad as 1st. It’s strong enough spark to find my finger and ark to my other hand resting on the motor. Home made defibrillator.

    If I don’t choke it it’ll fire just long enough to burn off what’s in the cylinder I guess. Hand pump? Squeeze the bulb or a shot of starter fluid?

    V Motor has not run for 30 min. Pulled rope fired for just a sec. Pulled rope a few times and nothing. For grins and giggles one quick shot of starting fluid and it fires right up. Fuel pump?
