    1978 140 hp mercury stator question

    Is the only function of the stator on this motor to charge the battery a supply voltage to the electrical components? It only has two wires couldnt imagine it being part of the spark system at all

    Im almost to the point of sinking this boat. New spark plugs, clean fuel screens, good spark, compression is 116-118 on all cylinders. I know its a huge no no but this engine will not start without starting fluid. Once running it does good....half of the time... Sometimes though it just wont...

    Ok, so i have a 50 hp Force motor that no matter how i adjust any linkage i can only get either forward or reverse gear. Im a mechanic but this motor is driving me nuts.
