    Welding the forward and clutch dog?

    I have a 1977 Evinrude 25hp, the forward gear and clutch dog is stripped. Is welding the gear and clutch together possible? is there any downsides? thanks, Grant

    1) I need a new forward gear and clutch dog. any good places to find cheaper used ones? 2) My lower unit is already off and the gear case also. how hard is it to install the gear and clutch dog and put everything back together. Appreciative the feedback, Grant
