I removed all the carpet and fitted a 3/4" plywood to extend the platform to the edge of the seat base. This also provide extra storage.
I cut the plywood in half before recovering. Don't have to remove the whole bench now to get access to storage.

Added supports on each side that sits directly over the super structure so that there is access to storage below.
Port side support for V-berth.
V-berth, purchased a 3" memory foam from Wallmart.
