89 merc over heating

[fishmonger.33]

it is a 60 hp and the impeller and water pump are fine, the carb is set right and it is still over heating. any ideas

doesnt have one. is this the problem? i know it sounds wierd but it dosnt have a thermostat.thanks. fishmonger.33

My manual shows a thermostat and poppit. Both can cause overheating.

what type of manual do you have? what years does it cover? and what pages roughly cover the thermostat. thanks. fishmonger.33
