69/74 merc 40 (4hp) starts once but won't run

I bought this motor out from storage. Maybe 2 years in a garage. Cleaned out the tank,lines and carb/fuel pump.It fires once but won't run or restart. Is there some small orifice maybe still plugged in the carb? where do I look?

I gave up and took it to the shop. Was determined to be a faulty stator. Advised was unavailable part. Any one know where to get a stator *** 'y for red band Merc 40(4)?

repair marine electronics. rebuilt stators and other ing parts.
