I ordered boyessen reeds, does anyone have an opinion about drilling my exhaust on an'81 225 merc with 1000 hrs since rebuild? Is drillin out going to be beneficial to justify the paid man hours to do this.. I pay my man 80 canadian per hour?
The reeds should on the average give you about 300 RPM at the top end, PLUS midrange, low end torq and idle will be greatly improved. Drilling will depreciate your engine....Try it first without the holes, some engines use the motor leg as part of a tuned exhaust system and you could reduce the performance by drilling holes.
