Hi guys,

Got this boat recently and found it virtually planes instantly but - at 3800 rpm's (should be 2600 with these engines?) - shakes something awful. Am told I need 4-blade propellers with increased pitch. I do want the speed (30knots). Any suggestions and recommendation for right props would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Hans zwyer2@rad.net.id

There are props available on Iboats and a whole bunch of prop dealers out there. http://www.chadhillpropellers.com/ is a good one to check. I would also check to see if what you have now is in balance.
You might want to post a bit more info such as drive type (inboard or IO) and size and weight of boat.

Detroits are renowned for the noise they make!!

http://www.ballisticprops.com/

http://www.simplicity-marine.com/surfprop.htm has a good article listed about vibration too.

Bob

YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!

3600! on a DETROIT!!. Make sure everyone runs parallel to the crankshafts!!

Not sure what D's you have, but; 1. You are either grossly overpowered. 2. You're tach's are wrong. Don't discount # 2. Detroits sound alot faster than they are actually turning.
