Evenrude 20hp 1984 alternator

Hi all new to boats and outboards , i have just got a 2nd hand evenrude 20hp 2 stroke that is 1984 model can anyone please tell me does this outboard have an inbuit alternator that will allow me to charge a leisure battery or run a fish finder from it ??<br /><br />Model number E20BFCRD<br /><br />Also if not would it be possible to attach one ??<br /><br />Cheers

Generally there will be two leads meant to be attached to a battery if you already have a charging system on the motor.If you don't have these leads a kit can probably be added,but I don't see a 20 HP motor listed for 1984.Do you have a model # ?<br /><br />DHP

A 1984 20 hp was not fitted with an alternator as standard but a battery charging kit was available as an accessory. According to the 1984 brochure

Have you got the part number for the battery charging kit ? , the engine has what looks like some kind of electrical plug in on the side that i surmise it goes into that seems to have 3 pins in it<br /><br />Cheers
