1955 evinrude 15 HP fuel line, manual

Still working on restoring a 1955 Evinrude 15 HP outboard. I've already gotten great tips from you all, and I now have spark! <br />Now I want to know, can I still get the original style fuel line for this? This is the old 3 prong plug that goes from the motor to the tank.<br />Failing that, is there an adapter available to make the newer type fuel line work?<br />I also wondered about a repair manual. Both IBoats and my local boat store have an Evinrude manual for 1956 up. Will this work for the 1955, or is there a 1955 manual I should keep searching for?Thanks!

You can still get the double line from a Johnson/Evinrude dealer. You just have to find one that has it in stock because it's only available in 50' lengths and most won't order that much for one customer wanting 6'. Just make sure it hasn't been sitting around for decades getting hard. No adaptation of modern tank/connectors available without mounting a fuel pump and there isn't enough room under the hood for one. Most pressure tank parts are still available, too. But complete tanks aren't. The manual you mention should be fine.

brp.evinrude is a good source for info. i also have a 55 15hp. had to buy tank off ebay. i found a site for dual ine hose but don't remember which one right now, but will investigate. always disconnect your hose from the engine, and let the motor run out of gas on it on. will save your arm later. you can kill them, if you love them. kencook.com has correct manual for 55.

NAPA auto parts lists twin hose in their 600 page marine products catalog.18-8051.Unfortunately some branches don't know about their catalog.

Amanda, go to maxrules.com, look under Johnson/Evinrude parts, fuel system/accesseories, they have 5' length twin line pressure hose for $16.00, among other parts for your motor on the site

I changed my 1955 evinrude 15 hp to a single line with fuel pump. Fuel pump off 1960 15 hp.

You need a different bypass port cover to mount the fuel pump. They are kind of hard to find for the 15hp. One just sold on e-bay for $50.
