I was given a 1969 25hp evinrude from my uncle. It is completely torn apart and needs assembly.

My question is, should I spend a $100 and get the service manual or $30 and get the Seloc one?

I am mechanically inclined and have built many chevy car engines but this will be my first boat motor.

Howdy, Jasperado.

Welcome to iboats. :)

You can get the OEM Service Manual for that engine for a lot less than $100 and it is the preferred source for detailed instruction.

Try www.kencook.com

Good luck. :)

Re: seloc vs service manual

The OEM manuals are a lot better. I just replaced my CLymer with the model specific OEM manual. Much better. OEM manual cost the same as the Clymer ($40). Might want to get a parts manual at the same time for another 20 bucks.
