recoil starter spring

Hello, the spring broke into 3 pieces in the starter assembly for my old 56 johnson 15 hp. I have been searching old posts but cannot find where anyone has mentioned a part number, I am guessing it is still available through Napa? I don't know how to find the part number, calling Napa got me nowhere.

Do you have a Johnson dealer near you?I don't have the number available here at home,but you should not have trouble at the dealer.It was a popular # and fit many of their motors.<br />Just a tip,in case you don't know,replace the rope with the correct size AND length.The rope should just about fill the pulley.Other wise you'll continue to damage the recoil.<br /><br />DHP
