I pulled the lower unit on my 1985 evinrude 60hp motor to change the water pump..I ran some water through the water tube to make sure it was clear. I noticed the water was coming out about 4 inches up from the bottom of the tube..Is this normal?.. or do I have a hole that shouldn't be there.

never looked close enough to know, but if is a round hole and less than 1/8 th inch,I'd say it should be there.

DHP

Re: water tube leaking

Some motors did come with a small hole there. The theory is that it cools the water pump area on initial start up.

Thanks for the help..after my local dealer could not tell me ,I called evinrude's tech line..they also told me that some models do have the hole.
