Re: Carb adjustment

Welcome!

Lets start at the beginning. Whats the model number? What is the motor doing or not doing that you want to change? Hows the compression? Spark? Has the motor been sitting? When was the last time it ran right or is it new to you? What spark plugs are you using?

I know, too many questions. Its just hard to see and hear the motor from here.

Let us know and good luck!

Re: Carb adjustment

There is no high speed adjustment for these carburetors.
Slow speed mixture adjustment as follows:
The slow speed mixture adjustment needle is located at top left side of carburetor when looking at it from the front.
Start engine and let it warm up for 3 to 4 minutes.
Make sure engine is on boat in the water in gear at idle speed with nothing restricting movement of boat.
If the adjustment is too lean, the engine will spit back and backfire.
If the adjustment is too rich, the engine will be rough and sound like it's flooding out.
If engine is lean (spitting back) turn screw counterclockwise 1/8th turn. Allow 15 seconds between adjustments. Adjust until engine is running at highest RPM.
If engine is running rich, turn scew clockwise 1/8th...same as above. If engine starts to spit back, yuo're too lean. Back needle out until engine is at it's smoothest.
I've found thatyou can just start turning in until it spits back, and then back it out just a tad until it runs smoothly.
repeat these steps on both carburetors.
