engine makes a bang every 6- 8miles of driving

my 110 johnson 86 runs great. It is just every 6- 8 miles of running i will here a bang from the engine. It sounds like it is coming from the lower unit. It has done this for the 180 hours that i have put on the engine . Let say it has done it once an hour in the 180 hours. Any suggestions. Thanks

Have the intervals become any closer over time? Sounds like clutch dog may be popping the motor in and out of gear. Eventually, it won't stay in gear or will suffer a complete failure. Cause may be incorrect shift linkage adjustment.<br />I would pull the LU off and start looking for the cause. Certainly isn't normal.
