Here is my problem. I don't have the manual or part diagram. Can anyone tell me the part that I am missig? Here is the problem I am having.

Motor: 25 HP
Make: Johnson
Year: 1975

I'm looking for a part for a 1975 25 HP JOhnson Boat motor that stops the motor from jumping out of forward. When the gas is given it jumps into neutral. Our part sits in the back and is held in by one screw almost even with the flywheel. Has anyone ever encountered this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Marky,

Your problem is most likely in the lower unit. The clutch dog is worn.

I've looked at that and that seems fine. I found out that there is a missing piece up in top near the flywheel but it must have falling out. I noticed that the threads were also stripped.
