I'm new here, just found the site and I'm not too savvy on outboards but I have a 1968 Johnson 6 hp that I'm working with and don't want to spend more than it's worth.
Hoping I can get some tips here.

Hi y’all, I’m new here and just getting into boating. I purchased a 1989 Seaswirl 230 Cordova. It has a few issues that I’m trying to figure out. Electrical, a need for a new lower unit, and an adjustment on the shifting cable, plus a crap ton of cleaning. lol. Oh, my name is Stacey and I live in Idaho. I’m a retired Army vet( medically), also retired civilian wise. I’m 54 years old, married with 3 kids( grown) and 3 step kids( still growing).

Welcome aboard, Stacey. There is a lot of knowledge in these forums. Search for the answers to your questions and if you don’t find it, start your own thread. Don’t hijack someone else’s post or add a question or comment on an old thread.

Welcome aboard Stacey: thank you for your service. You can also post questions about your driveline in the appropriate forum (Mercruiser, OMC, Volvo, ect)

Hello, new member. I had a small aluminum fishing boat but the waves got choppy and it scared my kiddos one day, we were not in Superior, so we recently bought a 1990 Raven R 170 knowing it was a project. We live in Duluth, MN so probably still not big enough for Mother Superior. :) Most of the boat is in great shape, but she was left under a leaky cover too long and rotted the wood in the floors and stringers. Looking forward to joining the community!

I interviewed for a job in Duluth once back in the early 00's, it was June and there was still snow on the ground.

Hello Everyone. New to the Forum. Thanks for the add.

I joined the forum the other day as my friend and I have started building our 17' aluminum freshwater fishing boat. I have looked at posts here numerous times over the last number of years, but never joined until now.

We picked up an inexpensive 60s boat and are working to take it down to bare metal and will be setting it up the way we want it. Removed the front hood a couple weekends ago which will be replaced by a raised/removable fishing seat with platform to reinforce the nose in place of the hood.

Picked up an old Force 50hp outboard today for the boat. I'll be getting that in running.order soon.

Compression checked out at 140psi for both cylinders. Will clean out the carb and will work to get running well as we finish up the boat over the next couple of months. Hope to have it on the water by Nov/Dec.

Been fishing most recently from a 16' pelican canoe. I built a mount for a 30lb minn-kota with outriggers and have had it on a lot of waters around Southern Nevada since then. Lake Mead, Lake Mohave, multiple reservoirs up in the kirsch wildlife area and more. Great for bass fishing but a little small for Mead and Mohave when the wind picks up.

Will be reading a lot and post here and there. I'm a member of a number forums, glad to start on this one.

Very cool. I recall there was a red 4 speed convertible 4speed kicking around colorado when we lived out there.

This one has been in the family since 75. I picked it up from my dad in 2001. Added the cragars in 08. Rebuilt the 273 in 2010. 30 over, original style 10.5:1 pistons with a little more lift/duration on the solid lifter cam. Put an 8-3/4 3.25 suregrip ini it in 2014 afrer i broke the 7.25. Disc conversion and dual master on the front a couple of winters ago.

Recently replaced both sets of points and dialed the timing back in. Fun little car.

Just joined. Sold the only boat I owned about 20 years ago, a 12 aluminum Sea Nymph. As I will retire within a year, my better half, who is more of a fisherman than me, suggested we get a boat. Found a decent 1989 17’ Sylvan Blue Fish from the original owner, with manuals. Has a 75 HP Mercury on it and a Minnkota trolling motor. Will do some cosmetic work but it is basically ready to use. Have been an equipment Reliability Engineer my whole career. Checked out several boat forums and this one seems to fit what I would be looking for. I’m in Demotte IN about an hour S of Chicago, and look forward to learning a few things. Attached a photo towing the boat home from Iowa with our Subaru. My regular tow vehicle is my F350. Seemed odd I did not get a confirmation email when I joined.
On a side note, from another non boat forum a member asked if anyone belonged to this forum as he seems to be locked out and the Contact Us doesn’t seem to be working, which I verified. Also thanks for letting us know that there’s another member out there in need of re-entrance help.

I have sent out an email under an iboats email address heading to BrianSki445@outlook.com to see if we can work together to reinstate the membership.

Hopefully that will be the correct email spelling only because doing a search doesn’t recognize this email address for original registration so unable to locate a username to go with it.

I towed my 18' starcraft home from MN to TN with my little vw sportwagen. Looked about the same.
