Buddy has a 10-15yr old pontoon boat with a trailer and a 50hp mariner with less than 25hrs on it for 800 bucks. The motor was winterized, but has not been used for 8-10 years?

Motor worth anything?, Boat has moss on it and the trailer has a couple of flat tires.

Thoughts....

That would depend on how much damage is done to the floor of the toon and condition of the rest of it,
Now the motor Is probably going to be alright id it was winterized right.
The normal start up from sitting dead will need to take place.
I would probably give it but then I am a nut case anyway according to my wife.

I would imagine that the floor is shot but the sponsons should be just fine. The floor has a nice carpet of moss growing on it so kiss it good bye but that outboard looks like brand new. I know the owner, (best friend) and it was virtually never used and definately not used for the past 8 years. The trailer needs a couple of tires and maybe bearing but it is good shape. I am looking to part out and maybe find a boat for the 50hp.

Pointer,

Toons are super simple to rebuild. There's not much to them.

As for the engine. It's probably OK. At the least, it needs a water pump. At the most, that, and a complete carb. service. That engine, if it's a four cyl. model, is a very sweet runner. It's perfect for a toon, if propped right.
