1974 Evinrude 9.9 Air Filter

I have owned a 1974 Evinrude 9.9 outboard for several years and had very little trouble with it and I'm not having trouble now but I did have a general question. Did that year model originally have an air filter?

Outboards don't use air filters. Some have air silencers others have air boxes and some have nothing at all, but no air filters.

There are no dusty lakes. Rick.

The carbs should however have been built with a screen over the throat to prevent inhalation of foreign objects such as zip ties.

Thanks, I wasn't sure but I am now.

I've never seen any dust on the lakes I fish, but there's plenty of dust on the roads leading to the lakes I fish.
