Marine drives other than the big names?

This is a completely random question just to appease my curiosity. What other marine drive & power package brands are out there other than the big names you generally see? I mean, I'm familiar with the names Mercruiser, Volvo, OMC for inboards & I/O or Johnson, Evinrude, Force (which was by Merc, right?), OMC, Mercruiser, Yamaha, Honda for outboards. But what other names are there in this business? Are there any particularly high-end lines that are interesting? What about historic lines that may have been around & even popular but no longer exist now (like OMC).

Thanks all for satiating my curiosity & educating me :)

Grey marine in some of the antiques. I've also heard alot about velvet drives. However, I'm pretty sure that is a type and not a brand. I'm not sure who makes it.

I'm pretty sure that's a transmission model made by one of the manufacturers for inboard boats. Borg Warner?

Don't forget the 'avoid this unless you understand what you're buying' stuff...

I/O's - OMC, Yamaha, Chrysler (yes, Chrysler made an I/O for about a minute...). Any I/O that has a Ford or Chrysler motor attached to it. Mercruiser 3.7 liter.

Outboards - Force, OMC 'Sea Drive' (that's a real oddball)

Ya, there's tons of threads about the 'avoid this' stuff. I'm more interested in the stuff we don't often talk about (brands).

Definitely some good ones I've never heard of!

I/O:

OMC
Mercruiser
Volvo
Yanmar (diesal only)

Outboards:

Honda
Suzuki
Yamaha
Mercury
Johnson
Evinrude
Tohatsu (small engines)
Nissan (small engines)

Inboards:

Cruisader
Yanmar
Mercruiser

there are others, many of which are commercial only and found ships:

there are more, but these are all I could think of.

That drive is kind of pretty. What year is that?

BTW, shrew, I was mainly curious about consumer-level boats, not commercial vessels. But interesting nonetheless.

I appreciate the clarification. It's hard to tell what someone does or doesn't want to know when a generic question is asked.

Borg-Warner used to make the Velvet Drive model, but now is a company all it's own. I'm not sure if they split, sold the name, sold the patent, or whatever. Don't confuse this with V-Drive, which is a type of transmission, where the input from the crankshaft and the output to the prop shaft are on the same side (hence making a V-shape).

Some others have filled a lot of the gaps. Some that I didn't see were Briggs and Straton, which makes a some very small (less than 10 HP) engines.

Also, in the area of "mud motors" (engines designed to go through shallow and/or muddy waters) you have ProDrive, Mud Buddy, and Go Devil outboard engines.
