1957 RDE-19 35HP.
First time in engine rehab work and I have tore this machine apart, replaced a number of things, put it back together, only had a few extra parts (jk), and tank tested yesterday. Took a little while to get her running, but finally she took off. The only problem is she wont stay running without pumping the two line tank primer on a regular basis. The tank has been rebuilt and seems to hold pressure off the engine. Also the fuel filter bowl seems to want to run half empty. When the two line tank is pumped, she runs continuously. I replaced the fuel lines, but reused the spring clamps from the original. Should I replace the clamps. Is there a possibility that the motor is not pressurizing the tank enough? If the air side of the two line system has leaks (don't know that) would this cause this issue? Also, when I rebuilt the two line tank, the diaphragm that was in it had a hole where the disc check valve was located. The new diaphragm did not. Every pic that I see of the replacement diaphragms shows only one hole beside the check valve location, yet in my manual, there is one diagram of a diaphragm with two holes. It is a 4 gal tank. What do you all think?
