If the deer down there are anything like the deer have been in Camrose, BC lately, maybe it was just a pissed off deer that put a hoof through the side.

Well, the hole is about 7' off the ground.

I took the gunrack down and found the wall damaged behind it.

Then I went out and shoved my arm into the hole and found. . .

.
a rock, about the size of my fist. Doesn't look at all like a space rock. Looks like the rocks the road builders use for base. No rocks like that on The Hideout.

Neftali Feliz couldn't throw that rock hard enough to do that sort of damage.

The evil spirits theory has been reinstated.

Re: The hole in the wall mystery

I have fiber-cement on the back and sides of my house. Saying it is heavy duty is an understatement. Just carrying a single piece of it by yourself is difficult. Besides just the siding itself, if it is installed according to the Hardie Plank brand instructions (as was explained by my contractor), the whole house is also covered in sheet metal then follows the building code house wrap, then plywood/or similar, then insulation then the inner wall board. I think even a sledge hammer would have a tough time making a clean hole in this kind of siding and the rest of the layers. I'd be curious to see the pics.

Well how about a SWAG....... Sophisticated Wild A__ Guess :D

Back in Dec 09 you had snow....... did you or a neighbor by chance do any plowing or snow blowing? A rock from another part of town could have been stuck in a blower and let loose.

I have even seen a mower toss a good size rock quite a distance when my neighbor bush hog's.......

I doubt it is an evil spirit but maybe a message from Spinner and his little buddies!

I'd still take a magnetic or metal detector to it. You just never know ?? it still could be a meteorite. :)

Could it by chance have gotten trapped in the wheels of an airplane retracting it's gear and they happened to cycle it over your house when they had a gear down warning light ?

You could also always call MYTHBUSTERS and see if they had a rock throwing experiment go bad :D

I'm liking the meteorite theory. Does the hole(s) have singed edges? I think meteorites are hot when the come down to our big blue marble. If it's magnetic, and there is evidence of heat on the wall, you may have made yourself enough for your next boat. Some of those are worth tons of moolah.

Todd: Well, something had to come through the window! Something had to break the stereo!
Margo: And why is the carpet all wet, *Todd*?
Todd: I don't *know*, Margo!

Perhaps a homemade trebuchet.

Was there any construction blasting within 2 miles of your house? I've seen a single stick of dynamite throw a piece of angle iron over a mile.

Timing near independence day?

I would believe that it must have struck fairly close to perpendicular to the wall....i.e. not a glancing blow....so what does a ...say...60 degree cone, perpendicular to the impact point take in as a point of origin...
What is facing that wall of your house? A road?... an airway?...etc.

Re: The hole in the wall mystery

Maybe the rock existed in an alternate universe at the same location, and just for a moment, radiation from a solar flare caused the two universes to overlap each other causing the rock to be bumped into this world, and into JB's wall.
