5.0 Mercruiser no spark

I just bought an 89 maxum and on the water it stalled out. I could not refire and found I have no spark coming from the coil. Replaced Coil and still have no spark. Is there possibly a bad module or a bad condensor? I am not very familiar with boats so where to find these parts and troubleshooot will help.

Check the voltage at the coil with the key on....

So, have you tested the system and found that to be the problem? Or are you planning on throwing parts (aka $$$$$) at it till you finally replace the right part. Which could actually be a bad connection under the helm and not a bad part?

I have already tried a new coil, I do not see a bullett connector coming from the distributor. A quick walk through would be nice, I have a test light and a Noid light ready to rock.

Got a Merc serial number of your engine handy? Is this EFI or carbed?

it is carbed, Where can i find the serial number? Have spark checker handy. No fire coming from the coil.
