I have a 1989 Johnson 90 and am having trouble with the tilt. When I go to lower or raise the motor nothing happens other than a clicking noise coming from the relay box on the back of the motor. I initially thought that I had bad relays so I replaced both of them and I still have the same problem. There are brand new batteries onboard and all connections look good with no corrosion. Could I have a bad trim motor? I am not sure what to do from here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Most trim motors have a overload curcuit in them and it could be bad . Also the brushes could be worn. Take the motor to a electrical shop and have them test and or rebuild the unit. If the overload curcuit is bad, have the tech by-pass it and put a 20 amp fuse between the motor and the battery.

Cheaper than buying a new one.
