I find it easy to belive a low pressure pump could do that,as can a broken oil link clip or a cogged VST filter.
its EFI it either runs correctly or its BROKE.
use the Yamaha dealer locator, google it.
find a real tech.
look on the wall for school certs for fuel and electrical at a minimum.
OX66 is simple to test and trouble shoot.

I would have the output voltage tested but your not describing an O2 sensor issue.
your describing a clogged regulator screen causing to much fuel pressure or a leaking fuel pump diaphram.
need to find a real dealer with real techs, preferably a master tech.
5 star isnt worth much.
all the training certs should be on the wall.
the yamaha dealer locator lists dealerships that employ master techs.

thanks for all your help they called today and said that a temp sensor was malfunctioning and also on the starboard side there is some kind of plate that has water running thru it and it was cracked and leaking water so they are fixing the those problems but I still don't think that will help the problem which is at hand he said as soon as you unload it from the trailer if you go right out and hammer it will go but anything after 30 seconds it loads up and will not function like it is suppose too.

yea?
and?
the dealer locator simply lists dealers in your area, it will also list if they employ a master tech.
what did yours list?
my guess is they will replace the sensor and get the same code again.
a failed sensor will lock idle timing at 7* BTDC,idle speed will increase and top speed can be reached. ask for the old sensor back when they are done and ill tell you how to actually test it.

Re: 2001 yamaha ox66 225 fuel problem

bummer.
your most likly going to have to deal with untrained parts changers.
the CTS is easily tested with a pan of water,a candy thermometer,a DVM and the service manual. then you simply watch the resistance go down as the water heats up and compare it to the manual specs.
if its good its good and go find the wiring issue.
call around and find a dealership that has at least a tech with fuel and electrical certifications.

Re: 2001 yamaha ox66 225 fuel problem

hey rodbolt got my boat back and was still not fixed took it to a buddy of mine and we found out that the primer bulb is not staying tight you go to hammer and it wont take off but if you go back and pump that bulb a few times and hammer it takes right off and runs like a scalded dog but as soon as you go back to idle you have to pump that bulb to take off again he doesnt have a diagnosis yet but he says he will have it figured out in a few days could you help me out to maybe speed the process up a little. Thanks for everything.

Re: 2001 yamaha ox66 225 fuel problem

replace the lift pumps and check for any air leaks in the fuel line.
all you are doing is manually refilling the VST with gas,by pumping the primer your simply bypassing the lift pumps.
it really irritates me when folks say that Yamaha cant find the problem when its a dealer your talking to and NOT Yamaha motors in Kennesaw GA.
ALWAYS look on the dealerships wall for actual school certificates.
we get them every year with each course passed.

Re: 2001 yamaha ox66 225 fuel problem

finally figured out what it was we put a test on the ecu and it gave us 17 flashes and it was a malfunctioning knock sensor replaced it and the boat runs great only thing we can figure is it was in gaurdian mode to protect the engine that is why it was acting so bad but now she runs about 73 mph right around 6000 on the tach thanks for all your help.
