Weird water in oil/milky situation

Friend of mine purchased a used boat. It came with 30 days warranty and everything on initial inspection checked out ok.

He's run it for several days getting used to it and now we've looked and sure enough, when you pull the oil filler cap, the underside is milky (more like melted marshmallows its so thick)

However, when we pulled the dipstick, clean and clear oil, and no trace.

How is it possible if water has entered and caused this situation, it isn't apparent in the oil pan, etc. Shouldn't it.

Any thoughts? He's going to have it checked by a mechanic this week before his 30 day warranty disappears but was wondering what folks thought?

It's a 2004 4.3L - Carbed.

Next time out run it with the oil cap off and see if the moisture clears up. If not showing on the dipstick probably just some condensation of maybe it had some previous problem that was fixed but still has a little moisture left in it.

If the engine's running at the recomended temp; take it out for a good long run.Short trips tend to build up condensation.

Thanks guys.... it didn't make sense that it would only be present there.

I did notice after another inspection that the filler neck that the cap sits on isn't fitted tight so that may be a source of moisture as well.

Good to know. I'll get him to clean it up and see what happens.
