Not sure if what I am having is the heat soak problem or not. Motor ran fine when I got to the lake but after fishing my first spot, about 45min, I started it and it died. When trying to restart hit would hit starter would disengage and motor would stop. It did this several times and would kind of start and die. After letting it set it started up fine. I ran down the lake for about 30 min. Stopped for an hour and it started up without a problem.

Does this sound like the "heat soak" problem?

Thanks for your time.

My V6 johnson does the same thing. This is some kind of strange phenomenon with these motors. It may have something to do with the barometric pressure and air temperature. The hotter it is the worse the problem is. I was told to let the motor idle for 5 minutes as to cool it down before shutting it off after a run. I dunno maybe it's the corn fuel we are using today. The heat soak and vapor lock issues have been on the increase lately maybe because of the inferior corn fuel we buy to power our boats.

I wonder if you got more air to enter the cowling if that would help keep it cool?
Has anyone tried that?

pump the bulb to fill the bowls with cold fuel and let it idle a minute before shutting it down.
